Staying the Course: Bridging the Gap between Heaven and Earth
After we've overcome most or all of the emotional pain that troubled
us and our lives have moved forward, we must stay the course with
God (prepare by reading and meditating on God's word,
make time for God through daily prayer, practice being obedient and
praise God). It is so important now more than ever that we
continue meditating on His word day and night and using it as an
application to manage our lives. It's when we draw ourselves
closer to God that it sometimes seems everything can go haywire,
simply because you're a child of the Most High trying to do what is
right.
Although God promised us blessings, it doesn't mean that life can
and won't happen to us or we won't be tested to build character.
God will never tempts us, because He himself can never be tempted
and is not of evil.
However, He can test us in order to strengthen areas in our lives
that need more growth. As the book of Hebrews says,
"our fathers disciplined us for a
little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for
our good, that we may share in his holiness. No discipline
seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on however,
it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who
have been trained by it."
So, we must prepare ourselves to stand like strong trees, not
withering, nor swaying when the troubled situations blow our way.
We must prove ourselves to God so that He can use us to do His work.
We are born for God's purpose, not ours. The bible says,
"...your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before
one of them came to be."
So, God cared for us and had a plan for us before we came to be.
However, many of us interrupt this plan of action by focusing on
what makes us happy. We think about goals and dreams that
fulfill the self instead of God.
But it's not about us, it's
about Him. It's through Christ that we find ourselves and what
God has determined for us: our purpose. If each one of us
worked on ourselves individually with God and Jesus Christ truly
being the center focus, than we can act as a unified, collective
body in more harmony to improve the conditions of our world while
training our children for their future generation. The bible
also says,
"in him we were also
chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of the Him
who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His
will, in order that we, who were first to hope in Christ, might
be for the praise of His glory. And you also were included
in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your
salvation. Having believed, your were marked in Him with a
seal, the promised Holy Spirit who is a deposit guaranteeing our
inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's
possession- to the praise of glory."
